GERLYN CHEAH, 30
Safety & Security Manager
Breaking Barriers in Male-Dominated Fields
An environmental engineer by training and a safety and security manager by profession, Gerlyn stands as a testament to breaking barriers in male-dominated fields. Growing up in a military family, she was instilled with values of discipline, empathy, and resilience. Her passion for environmental conservation and food security drives her advocacy, aiming to build sustainable food systems that reduce waste, support local farming, and ensure no one is left behind.
A certified Psychological First Aider, Gerlyn has used her skills to guide individuals through difficult life transitions, from calming crises to helping a young woman navigate her first steps into the workforce. Her advocacy was ignited by her participation in a climate rally, inspiring her to merge compassion with environmental action.
English, Mandarin, Malay and Singapore Sign Language, Gerlyn believes in using every platform she has to connect, educate, and inspire. She volunteers more than 20 hours annually with underserved communities and has represented Singapore in multiple pageants, including Miss Earth Singapore 2019, Miss Tourism International Singapore 2021, and Miss Intercontinental Singapore 2022.
In her free time, she enjoys reading, dancing, learning new skills, and creating ambigrams, a creative reminder that beauty is often a matter of perspective. Though allergic to mangoes, she still enjoys mango sticky rice for its nostalgic comfort.
“Strength and compassion can coexist. On the Miss Universe Singapore stage, I want to amplify my voice for the planet and its people, proving that true beauty is using your influence to uplift others while staying true to yourself.”
