INEZ CHEN, 18

Student, Debater

Mentor for At-Risk Youth

Proudly Singaporean Chinese and a true “East Side, best side” local, Inez brings youthful confidence and intellectual sharpness to the Miss Universe Singapore stage. A graduate of her school’s national debate team, she spent six years honing her skills in competitive debate, an achievement that demanded resilience, sacrifice, and a willingness to grow from setbacks. In her second year, she soared from second-last to fourth place, affirming her belief that hard work and self-belief can change the game.

Inez’s competitive spirit was first shaped in the swimming pool, but debate honed her poise, quick thinking, and love for spirited discourse. She credits the sport not only with making her sharper, but also with teaching her that improvement is constant and learning is lifelong, lessons instilled by her father.

Her advocacy focuses on youths at risk, believing that the greatest gift for a young person in a difficult environment is consistent emotional support. She hopes to use her voice to encourage public discussion on how to best help them, beyond financial aid, by building networks of trust and mentorship.

Outside her advocacy, Inez is an avid Formula One and MotoGP fan, loves to travel, experiment with her style, and engage in conversations that open new perspectives.

“The journey matters more than the outcome. Whether I win or lose, what’s most important is growing, connecting, and using this platform to make a difference for those who need a voice.”
